5 Thoughtful Christmas Gift Ideas for Someone with a Chronic Illness

A couple of weeks ago I shared my unique Christmas gift ideas, featuring small businesses on Etsy. Today, I will be sharing 5 thoughtful Christmas gift ideas for someone with a chronic illness.

It is Indie Week and I am continuing to support small businesses and individuals in this post. I encourage you to shop from small businesses, artists, designers and makers this Christmas.

Thoughtful Christmas Gift Ideas

Invisible Illness Print from February Stars Art

In my Etsy shop, I have a limited edition print that would make a really thoughtful Christmas gift for someone living with an invisible illness. The concept of my print, titled ‘Within the Shadows of Pain’, is to portray hope within a difficult situation and represents women living with health challenges that cannot be seen.

A beautiful, high-quality art print, Within the Shadows of Pain is a limited edition print of 50. Once they are all sold no more will be printed.

Shipping is free and the last order date for Christmas is the 2nd of December for international orders and the 16th of December for UK orders.

INCREDIBLE CAKES & TREATS FROM HOLLY TREE KITCHEN

The Christmas Collection from Holly Tree Kitchen

Chronic illness often comes hand-in-hand with diet restrictions due to allergies and intolerances. This often means missing out on tasty, sweet treats. Especially at Christmas time, which always sucks!

If you are in the UK, I highly *highly* recommend doing some Christmas shopping at Holly Tree Kitchen.

Holly makes incredible raw cakes and energy balls that are vegan, gluten-free and refined sugar free. She also has keto friendly bars.

I was very lucky and my husband bought me some Holly Tree Kitchen goodies for my birthday in October. I would 10/10 recommend to a friend. Holly’s cakes aren’t just the best free-from cakes I have tasted, they are some of the best cakes full stop!

The great thing about raw cakes is they can be kept in the freezer for up to two months. This means you can have a little treat whenever you fancy (though, in my case, I think I scoffed the lot in two weeks haha).

Trust me when I say Holly Tree Kitchen goodies make a thoughtful Christmas gift (*hint* *hint* to any of my family who are reading 😉 !)

My recommendation: the mixed raw cake boxes.

There are also £5 gift vouchers available to purchase.

a hug in a box from bear hugs

The Bear Hugs Sophia box, which contains notebooks, bath salts, lip balm and a coaster. A lovely, thoughtful Christmas gift.
The Bear Hugs Sophia Box

What could be more thoughtful than a hug in a box? Bear Hugs offers you the opportunity to purchase just that. These gorgeous gift hampers are sure to put a smile on someone’s face this Christmas.

Beautifully packaged (how cute are those bear arms on the box!?), Bear Hugs can be personalised and sent with a message inside. Suitable for a range of budgets, you can find a whole bunch of different goodies to include in the hamper; from chocolates, bath products, candles, cosy socks, books and more.

My recommendation: The Sophia Box (pictured above), which includes relaxing bath salts, nourishing lip balm, floral notebooks and a wooden coaster engraved with ‘Hello Lovely’.

This hug isn’t just thoughtful for the recipient, but is extra thoughtful in that purchasing it will also help to fund treatment for the lovely Sophia.

Sophia lives with Lyme Disease and is very poorly. Sophia was the inspiration behind Bear Hugs and all profits from the sale of the Sophia Box will be donated to her GoFundMe page.

Within These Four Walls by Mindfully Evie

Within These Four Walls by Mindfully Evie

Within These Four Walls is a beautifully written book by Mindfully Evie. Evie lives with M.E and every word written in the book was written from the confines of her home. The book has been three years in the making and is a testament to Evie’s time being housbound due to chronic illness.

The book is a collection of pieces such as journal entries, poems and letters. It is very easy to dip in and out of and doesn’t require the same concentration as a novel (which is great where brain fog is concerned).

Uplifting, inspiring and heartfelt, Within These Four Walls makes for an incredibly thoughtful Christmas gift.

Within These Four Walls is a self-published book and is available in various countries on Amazon.

Thoughtful Christmas Gifts from Spoonie Survival kits

Insomnia Spoonie Survival Kit

A fundraising social enterprise, Spoonie Survival Kits sell little bags of happiness that have been specifically created with chronic illness in mind.

The little things really do mean a lot when you live with chronic illness and a Spoonie Survival Kit makes for a lovely, thoughtful Christmas gift.

The fun part is that each gift is a complete surprise! Though if you have any concerns, they are happy to chat to you about the contents before purchasing.

What makes Spoonie Survival Kits an especially thoughtful gift is that 50% of the total sales money (not just profit) is donated to charity.

My pick: The Chronic Fatigue Spoonie Survival Kit
