Increasingly, people are turning to CBD oil for Fibromyalgia pain relief. Personally, I’ve been using products that contain CBD oil for a little while now and, in my experience, CBD oil is a great alternative to pharmaceuticals for the relief of Fibromyalgia symptoms.
The symptoms of Fibromyalgia that CBD can help with include pain, anxiety, sleep disturbances and inflammation. Personally, I’ve also found CBD oil helpful in increasing overall feelings of wellness.
Though it may not help everyone, personally I’m an advocate for trying CBD products. However, not all products are created equally and it is worth doing your research to find the best product for you.
In this post, written by Honey Colony*— who produce high-quality CBD oil* and other natural remedies– you will learn what CBD is and how CBD oil can provide relief from Fibromyalgia symptoms.
Cannabidiol For Fibromyalgia
Deep, persistent pain, tender points that litter the body, aches in every muscle, and profound exhaustion. Welcome to the world of Fibromyalgia.
If you are one of the five million Americans who suffer from this condition, CBD oil is an alternative painkiller that is safe, natural, and been proven by scientists to help quash inflammation and provide relief.
Cannabidiol (CBD), which has been used for nearly 10,000 of years because of its healing properties, is one of 113 active compounds found in the cannabis plant. This is different from THC, which is the compound that gets you high.
Reasons Why CBD Oil Ranks High as A Treatment Option for Fibromyalgia
CBD ranks high as a treatment because of two reasons. First, it naturally supports the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS).
The ECS plays a direct role in homoeostasis and supports memory, mood, brain reward systems, and energy balance. This, in turn, helps you combat depression, anxiety, inflammation and creates feelings of well-being.
Second, unlike THC, the compound best known in marijuana, CBD is non-psychoactive. This allows you to use it anywhere without experiencing any high.
An Alternative to Pharmaceutical Treatments for Fibromyalgia
When it comes to chronic diseases, CBD oil brings relief to sufferers who do not want to turn to pharmaceutical drugs.
CBD oil can help to balance the nervous and musculoskeletal system and may promote a healthy immune response, improved energy, clarity, and relaxation.
When it comes to Fibromyalgia, CBD oil has also been shown to be an effective means to overcome pain and take back control of one’s body.
Fibromyalgia manifests in the body as widespread musculoskeletal pain, accompanied by fatigue, irregular sleep, decreased memory function, and imbalanced moods.
Ninety per cent of sufferers are women, and this can also manifest into painful menstrual cycles.
The pain, mood variations, and decreased mobility cause Fibromyalgia sufferers to be three times more likely to suffer from major depression. Limited mobility, due to musculoskeletal pain, becomes part of everyday life.
The Benefits of CBD Oil for Fibromyalgia
For Fibromyalgia suffers, CBD oil is an all-natural and healthy alternative to FDA-approved medications.
A National Pain Foundation study of over 1,300 Fibromyalgia patients found marijuana more effective than the FDA-approved medications Cymbalta, Lyrica, and Savella.
CBD oil’s ability to support function may allow sufferers to live with increased muscle and joint function.
A 2011 Spanish study, showed a statistically significant reduction of pain and stiffness and an increased feeling of wellness after using cannabis in fibromyalgia patients.
CBD additionally may diminish inflammation, enhances one’s mood, and supports healthy sleep patterns.
Legality & Safety
In terms of legality, CBD oil derived from hemp is 100 per cent legal in the United States because it is classified as a dietary food supplement.
Regarding safety, a 2011 review published in Current Drug Safety states that CBD has no effect on psychomotor and psychological functions. Even at high doses, CBD will not alter your motor skills or state of mind.
Purchasing a CBD Oil
When choosing a CBD oil, it is very important to consider certain criteria such as extraction methods and where it is being sourced. You want to make sure you are getting the purest and most potent form of this powerful natural remedy.

Hi,
Do the company that produce the oil ship to the UK & should you stop using a current med pescribed by GP – duloxetine?
Thank you
Lisa
Hi Lisa, Honey Colony do ship internationally but I would recommend getting in contact with them via their website for any enquiries you have. I also would not stop any prescribed medication without first speaking to your GP and always consult your GP before starting any new supplement to ask about possible drug interactions.
I went to the site and I can’t find any. Do you have a direct link?
Hi Layrie, apologies for that. You’ve made me realise I needed to update a couple of links in this post. The Superior CBD is now sold through the Simply Transformative website. You can find a direct link here. It’s not always in stock and I believe that you can only pay by check or bitcoin at present. There’s more info on their site. If you are unable to purchase the Superior CBD, another brand I’d recommend is Charlotte’s Web. It doesn’t have the benefits of the herbs but it’s a good quality product.
I would be interested in trying,c depending on the cost, as I amon limited income
I hope it helps if you do try it. Good luck!
No where does it mention how to take the CBD. I’ve had some I rubbed on areas, not even sure if that works. How does the oil in dropper bottle get applied? Thanks
Hey Donna. There are a few different CBD products, the lotions and balms you rub onto painful areas. The oil in the dropper bottle is taken orally– you drop it under your tongue and hold for a minute or so before swallowing to allow it time to be absorbed.
The oil can be found in most health/natural food stores very inexpensively. We purchase it at a local Amish store in South Carolina for $17.00.
I have not tried it but would like to. I tried ordering some but you had to buy 3 bottles and it was over $100. I don’t want to be in pain but what if it doesn’t work for me. I don’t even know how to use it.
Hi, Paola. I wouldn’t be keen to order 3 bottles when I hadn’t tried CBD oil either. That’s a shame they only sell in 3 now, I hadn’t realised. I would recommend checking out the Vital Plan Select CBD oil. There is the hemp oil, which you take orally and costs $79. They also sell a muscle rub, which you can rub onto painful areas and costs $29. Another CBD oil I like is by Nganic. If you are confused, I’d recommend reading my blog post: 5 tips for buying CBD oil. I hope this is helpful.
Would like to try CBD oil for fibromyalgia.
Hi Lori, you can purchase CBD oil from Honey Colony or you can research other reputable sources 🙂 Good luck
Hi Lisa ~ I am diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and have been using CBD oil that I get locally in Cornwall. In my personal experience it helps greatly without any bad side effects. I would highly recommend its use Lisa.
Where in Cornwall do you get the cbd?
Hi where do you buy it? I’m in Yorkshire
Hi Sarah, I am not sure about UK suppliers. I’m in the UK but have only bought from the US. You have to pay VAT (+ a handling fee) but you can purchase from Honey Colony (Simply Transformative) from the UK.
where in cornwall I got mine in wales but I live in cornwall
I would like to try this product I live in Canada. Do you ship to Canada
Hi Darlene, I don’t sell the product myself. It is sold through the company Honey Colony. You can contact them via their website to ask about shipping.
I need this oil, where can I get this from? I am desperate for help and even if it only helps with a little relief it will be a godsend. Can you get it in the U.K.?
Hi Warren, the cbd oil mentioned in this blog post can be shipped to the UK from the US. You can order directly from Honey Colony.
do you ship in Texas I need this
Hi, Virginia. I don’t sell the CBD myself. You would need to get in touch with Simply Transformative if you are interested in Honey Colony’s CBD oil.
CBD Oil is made from cannabis plant called sativa and is very helpful for chronic pain and other such illness. I have been using since few weeks and it really helped me as it provides low THC and without any side effects. It is safe to use but it is important to know that from where you buy these products as there are huge people manufacturing these products and you can buy at cheap prices in florida.
Hi, Gary. Good to hear that CBD oil has been helpful for you!
where in FL
I have been using marijuana products for several years now with great results. CBD oil is a wonderful product, but there is a vast difference in products produced and sold by various companies. There is also a vast difference in how it is produced. Oil derived from hemp is not the same as that from the marijuana plant. It does not contain the same quality or quantity of CBD. BE sure to check if your supplier gets their oil from the marijuana plant.
Just for anyone reading this comment, it’s worth being sure that CBD from marijuana is legal where you live.
I don’t no in Texas
I believe hemp derived CBD oil is legal in all 50 states but it is worth checking to be sure.
Hello, I have been desperate to begin using cannibas oil for my severe/chronic pain but do not know the dosages I should be taking – Since I still work and also take care of my grandbaby, I cant afford to be super tired due to over-dosing – where can I find some kind of dosage chart? thanks!
Hi Sharon, I would recommend contacting Honey Colony as they will be able to advise you on correct dosaging.
I have just got a bottle of oil and need to know how much to use in a vape ejuice mix. Are there any charts out there to help thanks.
Hi, sorry I am not sure about vaping. Is there a reason you are vaping over taking it orally? I know Honey Colony can advise re: the latter.
For cost reasons mainly as I thought it would go further. The bottle I have was £36 and they say 3 drops 3 times a day and that would only last a week! I don’t have the finances for that sadly. Thanks for your reply ;0) x
Ah okay. I’m afraid I can’t offer any advice on that one. The CBD oil from Honey Colony does look like it would be better value than the stuff you have. Still not cheap but at least you get more for your money.
Thanks Donna I will check them out ;0) x
Can it be mixed with something to hide the taste? Have only used mine twice as the taste is horrendous. Any tips will be gratefully received :0) x
Hi Jools,
I’ve heard of people putting it in tea and other drinks to disguise the taste. Maybe try some fruit juice or a smoothie?
Thanks Donna will try that as I really can’t cope with it under my tongue ;0)
Good luck!
This was wonderful information! I have been dying to try some CBD oil for my chronic pain but did not know companies would ship this product! Heading to their website now and sharing this article! Thanks!
I’m pleased you found this post helpful Kirstin. If you do try CBD oil, I’d love to hear how you get on.
Very interesting info. I did not know about this product to help Fibromyalgia so thanks Donna for bringing it to our attention and I will definitely be sharing it on our busy social media accounts.
Thanks Lee. I appreciate you sharing my post. I’m not sure of the legalities of cbd oil in your part of the world, so that would be something to look into 🙂
I really want to try the CBD oil for my Fibro! Thanks for posting!
Your welcome Kathy! Good luck, I hope you find it helpful.
I’m interested in trying it !!!! How do I go about doing that?
Hi Christina, you can purchase CBD oil from Honey Colony directly.
I’ve recently started using essential oils in my battle with Lupus, RA & Fibromylgia. I have found comfort in their properties. But I am still battling with depression & I stay at home all the time. I would be open to try the CBD oil. I am ready to get some resemblance of my life back.
Hi Kendra, I have haven’t tried essential oils myself (only a lotion containing them) but I have heard really positive things about them. I am sorry to hear you suffer from depression. It would be interesting to see if CBD oil would help. Just a suggestion but it might be worth looking into supplements that boost serotonin as these can be depleted with fibro. Good luck.
Totally interested ????????????
If you are interested in trying I would suggest doing more research and if you do decide to try it, make sure you purchase it from a reputable retailer 🙂
Where do I find CBD oils that don’t cost a ton of mney???? I know the can help just can afford through high pruces.
Hi Janet,
Unfortunately, CBD oil is an expensive product. I wouldn’t advise going for something with a cheap price tag as that would make me question the quality. But do shop around and see what works out as best value for money.
Would this also help for lower back pain, sciatica?? So this is taken orally, would it work topically as well?
Hi Theresa, if you are looking for a topical lotion with CBD oil check out my post about the Fay Farm Serenity lotion. It’s fab 🙂

I would like to try it if it’s not too expensive. I’m on a fixed income and supporting my son and grandson.
Oml , this sounds like what I could be looking for , I have been suffering I mean suffering Fibro for about 10 yrs. And I just can’t believe there’s nothing that helps , this is only oral ? Does it make you goofy ? And does the lotion work just as well ? Thanks So Much !
CBD oil won’t get you high 🙂 The honey colony cbd oil is oral. Have a look at my review of the Fay farm serenity lotion too. I think it’s an individual decision and everyone will be different. It’s worth experimenting and seeing what works best for you.
No, doesn’t make me and Yes lol

Hello from Captgreg I myself have the symptoms of fibromyalgia I take lyirica and Gabapentin plus the oils which seem to help, what I do for Sciatica pain is Bee Apitherapy I never would have believed how much it helps please do the research before trying.
Hi Captgreg, thanks for your comment. It is good the hear what works for people.
I would like to try this oil. I need it for major and serious low back, leg and hip pain. I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, but my doctors are focusing more on DJD with disc herniation, lumbar stenosis, scoliosis and sciatica. I DO NOT want Rx pain meds. I’m looking for a more holistic/natural choice. However, the pain is so bad, I’m willing to try just about anything. I middle through the pain each and everyday with a total sit down job that I HAVE to get up from time to time and stretch. If you have any info or suggestions, I welcome them. Thank you.
Hi Pam, I think cbd is worth a go but remember there is no magic pill that will take your pain away completely. I’m not sure where you live but if you are in the US I can also recommend a device called a Quell- it’s a wearable pain device. I’ll be writing about it next month and I have personally found it to be wonderful. It doesn’t take away the pain but turns down the volume, which makes a significant difference. If you are in Europe, it should be available soon.
OMG!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! I will most definitely look for this!!! Fibromyalgia sufferers must also try Tumeric Curcumin whether fresh (a type of root – I think 🤔) or in pill form is a MUST TAKE for fibromyalgia sufferers. I too have fibromyalgia so I can most definitely feel your pain 😞 (((GENTLE HUGS))) 🤗
Hi, Marlene. That’s good advice. I’ve actually had IV Curcurmin and I really liked the effects. Have you tried drinking Golden milk? That can be a really tasty way to get turmeric into our day 🙂

I just got my first bottles of Elixinol brand oil. I don’t know how it compares to others, but I am in Australia and we have very strict laws here, so I chose one that was available here. Have only tried two doses so far. It is disgusting, but first time I let it sit, second time I swallowed straight away and the. Ate a square of chocolate., not the healthiest method, but I didn’t get the horrible aftertaste. The one I am using is citrus flavoured.
Can’t wait to see some improvements…..
Good luck Carolyn, I truly hope it helps you and that you experience the potential benefits. Tinctures are always tricky to take and we do sometimes have to get a bit inventive to disguise the taste! I find holding my nose helps whilst I take something to get rid of the after taste with tinctures I’m not fond of.
I have just recently been introduced to CBD oil and was recommended to use with a vaporizer. I’m wondering if those with fibromyalgia benefit more by taking it directly versus vaping for increased pain relief and relaxation? Any advise is greatly appreciated.
Hi Catherine, sorry I can’t offer my opinion as I’ve never vaped. I think, as with most things, it can be individual and is probably a case of experimenting and seeing what works best for you.
Well I got my oil the other day I think I ended up getting it Fay Farm because it was cheaper and yes it’s two droppers full three times a day ,the taste is horrible but so is my pain ,weigh it out, I was scared when I first took it also because of the other medications I’m on so I started slow , I’m up to the two droppers full now , and so far I haven’t noticed a change , I’m really hoping this works because I’m real tired of all this pain and nothing working , oh I also take baths in Epsom salts with lavender and that seems to help briefly also , I read these faithfully so if someone finds something please let me know ! I tried to get a counseler were I live to start a support group were I live as I feel it would help !
Hi Lori,
With many things, I think with some people it can take time to see a response. I have my fingers crossed for you that it does help. Epsom salts are great and it might be worth speaking to your doctor and considering supplementing with magnesium if they help you. It’s also worth keeping in mind that no one thing will help and it’s a combination of many things that need to come together to provide relief. I think it’s wonderful if you can set up a support group in your area. Good luck!
I’m doing a combo of many things , but the Epsom’s salts in the bath does seem to help a great deal , the oil oml , now tats a different story , tryed that a couple of times , seen no change and just couldn’t gag down any more to go any further to see if it might work so I’m out there still looking for something to help get rid of all my pain so I can have a somewhat normal life !
Sorry to hear the oil didn’t help you Lori. Have you tried any creams with CBD oil in them instead? I can highly recommend the Fay Farm CBD lotions 🙂
I have been on CBD oil now for just short of a month and I take 2.25 ml three times a day and it has done wonders. I have had Fibro for at least 8 years and this has been the only thing that has taken away the pain so I can live a better life.
This is great to hear Shelley! I am so pleased it is working well for you and is giving you some relief. Take care.
Every joint-painful; the pain feels like it goes inside the marror of bone.skin hurts. I am bone on bone in the knees; right hip-hurts; pain goes inside joints to bone marrow;all the skin hurts when active;Arthritis in hands;Gout;Debilitatingsciatica;back & neck pain.Knees are bone on bone;
I am sorry to hear you are in so much pain, Deirdre. It’s so debilitating. My pain hasn’t been as severe as yours but I have written about how I helped to improve my pain. I hope reading my posts may provide some helpful information to you.
Would love to try this. I have fibromyalgia. Of course good quality to me is important.
Hey Jennifer, I hope you get to try it. You’re right that good quality is important. Brands I’d recommend are Honey Colony (mentioned here), Bluebird botanicals and Charlotte’s web.
I live in the UK and can now get cbd oil from a local herbalist Holland and Barrett I was just wondering, it comes with a pipet and you are supposed to take it by placing drops under your tongue and waiting, but I just can’t cope with the taste, any suggestions?
Hi Wendy. I haven’t had that issue as the CBD oils I’ve tried have all been quite pleasant. I’ve tried the one mentioned here by Honey Colony and two by Charlotte’s Web (their mint one and olive oil one– I actually preferred the olive oil flavour as it was quite neutral). Perhaps you could try mixing it with some orange juice? That’s what I used to do with herbal tinctures I didn’t like the taste of 🙂
I have been using the CBD oil for a while now and I must say it’s working pretty good. It’s a really good pain relief, I believe in the future CBD will become an important aid for our health.
Hi Silvia. Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m so happy to hear that CBD is working well for you 🙂
My son purchased me some n Holland & Barret in the U.K. If that help people in England
I saw that H&B were selling it now. It seems to be becoming more popular over here 🙂
Do u have a link.. yes ive tried before.. it’s superb for fibromyalgia.. please send me link so I can order ..thank u
Hello, the Honey Colony Superior CBD oil can be purchased via the Simply Transformative website here 🙂
Trying to find where to buy this it’s not going well
Hi Ron, the cbd oil mentioned in this blog post is sold via Simply Transformative.
I have Fibro, Arthritis, TMJD and the list goes on. Having tried many things in the UK the only thing that has helped give me some reliefand made specifically for pain has been from mypainaway.co.uk! Possibly controversial but when you are desperate…
Hope this helps and thank you for your valuable info!
I think people need to be aware that products containing higher levels THC are illegal in the UK and I would suggest that if people are new to the product they try CBD oil first. That said, personally, i don’t think it’s controversial to use medicinal marijuana. People may say I’m naive but I feel it’s a better option than some of the prescription drugs that are currently used for pain.
Hi Donna,
Thanks for the great post.
It’s so interesting to learn that the body was made to receive this wonderful treatment.
My husband swears by it and has been using a CBD lotion for his back since 2018.
I occasionally use it for headaches but otherwise haven’t tried the oils.
We use a lotion from a local brand in Northampton. (potterhemp.com)
I know their lotion definitely works but I’ve never tried their oils.
Would you recommend trying the oils or have you tried any of the lotions for your fibromyalgia?
Personally, I found the oils best for anxiety and to increase sense of well-being. I preferred applying lotions directly to the site of pain 🙂
Yes I’ve actually started using an oil yesterday for restlessness. I’m not sure if I’m feeling a placebo effect but I do feel more calm throughout the day. Thanks again Donna.
