I’ve continued to create my ‘2014 Book of Happiness’ this month- writing down all the things in March that made me happy. I think gratitude is something that takes practise but learning to appreciate all the positive things in your life is definitely worth it. When you are living with a chronic illness you battle with negatives on a daily basis. Pain and fatigue can easily wear you down and get the better of you. At times you can also face a battle with your mind and the thoughts that enter it. I am sure you can all relate to that. You may have noticed that my blog has been a little quiet this month. The reason is that I have been struggling with my fibromyalgia and I’ve been feeling a little despondent lately. But looking back at all the things I have achieved this month has made me realise that I have done more than I thought. To be honest, I have probably pushed myself too much this month and that’s why I have been struggling. But do you know what? It was worth it. You have to live your life and do the things you want to do and this month I certainly did that.
♥ Taking photographs in the park.
♥ Movie nights. This month we watched the Lego Movie and American Hustle.
♥ Taking photographs for my Dad’s business and designing menus for him.
♥ Shopping trip to Dundee my husband with Ross. We had lunch at Pizza hut.
♥ Having a poker night with friends. I came 2nd.
♥ Going out for dinner with my Mum, Dad and Ross. We went to a yummy Chinese restaurant.
♥ Having tea with Ross at Frankie & Benny’s and then going to see the comedian Russell Howard at ‘The Hydro’ in Glasgow. Hilarious!
♥ Using up annual leave and having a few days off work to chill.
♥ Successfully matching my dogs at work to service users who will start training together soon [one pair has actually started and I had a great time helping to train them during their first couple of days together] 🙂
♥ Staying at the Sheraton hotel for Ross’ birthday. We met friends for a night out at the pub and then spent a few hours the next day at the spa. This was after breakfast in bed- ace!
♥ Received a lovely thank you card at work from a volunteer.
♥ My Mum brought me yummy homemade soup on the days I was off work sick (due to fibro), which made me smile.
♥ My Mum & Dad bought me some gorgeous furniture as payment for the menus I made for their business (I had also given them a TV to display one of the menus on). It looks super in my lovely re-decorated home.
♥ Had tea with Ross, his brother and my mother and father in law. Ross’ Dad made fajitas, which were delicious!
♥ Listening to the ‘Top 100 Rock Tracks’ playlist on Spotify.
♥ Helped Ross to pick out some new glasses (spectacles)- he’s never had any before and really suits them.
♥ Spending Mother’s Day with my lovely Mum.
What has made you happy this month?

Glad to see a list of positive things instead of a rant on all the terrible things Fibro has done to your life. You have given me a great idea!!! I try to be positive most often and I get a lot of negative feedback from people thinking they are in too much pain, and life has been disrupted too much to see any good. I think thats a sad way to live. I enjoyed the read 🙂
Hi Dawn, thank you for your comment. I am glad I have given you a great idea to try. I think it’s wonderful to keep track of all the positives that happen in our lives. My view is, I have this illness, there’s not a huge amount I can do about it, I just have to do the best I can and get on with it. What’s the point in moaning about it? It achieves nothing other than get you down. Of course there are times when I get a bit down and can have a rant but I don’t allow myself to be like that for too long and, like you, try to be as positive as possible. Take care.
