My overarching goal for this year is to create more happiness in my life. This lead me to start my 2014 book of happiness. January is one of the toughest months of the year for me. For some reason my fibromyalgia is always at its worst at this time of the year. I think it’s partly because winter is a hard slog. The weather is wet, gloomy and cold and it can be tough to appreciate all that I have going for me. Writing everything down definitely brought my awareness towards things that I have enjoyed and has helped keep my mood lifted. Here’s some of the things that have made me happy in January:
♥ Bringing in the New Year at Hallgrímskirkja in Reykjavik. The fireworks display was one of the best I have seen and the atmosphere was amazing.
♥ Seeing the Northern Lights in Iceland on the 1st of January. An absolute perfect ending to a wonderful holiday and something to tick off my bucket list.
♥ My doggy Oscar. He brings me a lot of happiness.
♥ Allowing myself to have a long lie in and having a much needed duvet day watching Louis Theroux documentaries on Netflix.
♥ NFL Sundays! Love American football and it’s been great having my friends come round to watch the games.
♥ The rare days where the sun showed itself for a few hours.
♥ My bestest buying her very first flat- so happy for her!
♥ Reflexology sessions.
♥ Beautiful red skies in the morning.
♥ Taking photographs at Anstruther Harbour and at Aberdour Castle (where Ross and I got married in August 2012).
♥ Re-arranging the furniture in the living room so we could get a projector.
♥ Movie nights! Loved the Blind Side in particular.
♥ Ross being an awesome husband and bringing me breakfast in bed and buying me flowers.
♥ Getting a good end of year review at work and a pay rise.
♥ Going to a friend’s house warming party.
♥ Blogging.
♥ Learning more about photography. Ross bought me a great book so that I can learn more about the technical aspects of photography.
♥ Ross’ amazing cooking!
♥ Receiving a thank you card from a service user who’s dog I trained.
♥ EFT.
♥ Nutella, love the stuff.
