September feels as though it has gone by so quickly and here I am (already) sharing my October bullet journal set up.

September was a fun month with a secret trip to Sicily and a weekend spent in Inverness celebrating a friend’s wedding. But, it has ended on a more challenging note.

On Friday past, I had a diagnostic laparoscopy that revealed a cyst on my ovary and endometriosis.

It all happened quite quickly as I was fortunate to get a cancellation for the surgery (I very much like to get things over and done with once I’ve made a decision). I had my surgery about 4 weeks after my second referal to gynaecology.

It’s been a process that’s been going on behind-the-scenes for a long time now and I will share more about what led to the surgery and how it was very soon.

For now, I’ll just say that I am glad I have answers and I am recovering really well. I hope to be back to my usual self soon.

October Bullet Journal

Turning my attention back to my October bullet journal, I kept things clean and simple again this month.

Before I chat more about my October spreads, here is a list of the supplies I used:

October Overview

Monthly double-page spread in my October bullet journal

This month, I tried something new. I decided to create a digital illustration on my iPad for the cover page.

My favourite app for drawing on the iPad is Procreate and I use the apple pencil. I had a lot of fun drawing this illustration, though, note to self;  I really need to practise my digital lettering!

I created the autumnal wreath by using the symmetry tool and I doodled some simple leaves and berries. At the bottom, there are three pumpkins and these were super easy to do too.

I only drew one pumpkin, then I copied it. I resized the second pumpkin and changed the hue.

Then, I copied that again and voila; three pumpkins!

After I was finished drawing, I sent my illustration to my PC (via Dropbox). From there, I created a new  A4 size document in Photoshop.

I placed the illustration on one side of the page. Next, I copied, pasted and resized parts of the illustration so that I could use them as decoration for my other spreads.

Doing this essentially saved me a bunch of time as I didn’t need to draw lots of doodles. I simply printed the page then cut and glued the doodles into my bullet journal.

October Bullet Journal Monthly Spread

I used a double-page spread for my October monthly overview and kept it to the absolute basics, as I did last month.

On the left page, I glued in my digital illustration. On the right, I created boxes using my No. 02 Pigma micron fine line pen for making note of birthdays, important dates, my goals for the month and any ideas/to-dos for my blog.

I titled these boxes using a No. 8 Pigma micron fine line pen and highlighted them with a burnt orange coloured pencil.

Finally, I added pumpkin and berry doodles to the right page as decoration.

I’ve pretty much given up on time consuming things like drawing calendars and such! Maybe I will go back to that one day.

But, for now, a quick and easy set-up is my go-to!

October Gratitude & highlights page

My one-line per day gratitude and monthly highlights pages

As always, I included a one-line-per-day gratitude page and a monthly highlight page.

The gratitude page is simply numbered down the side and the highlights page is left blank.

I titled these pages using my Tombow Fudenosuke brush pen (hard) and decorated them with my printed doodles of pumpkins, leaves and berries.

October Bullet Journal Weekly Spreads

The weekly spreads in my October bullet journal with one week per page

I stuck to the same weekly spreads as last month. This is so quick and easy to set up and helps to keep me organised.

I use one page per week. On the left side of the page is a little calendar so I can highlight which week of the month it is.

Under this, there is space to write down weekly to-dos and notes.

Then, I split the other part of the page into 7 for the days of the week. Here, I have written the day, date and then drawn a simple line to create the sections.

The page is finished with the printed doodles of pumpkins, leaves and berries at the bottom.

And, that’s it for my October bullet journal! Simple, easy to keep up with and helpful for staying organised.
