Facing Tough Decisions

There comes a time in your life when you have to make a decision. It’s not something you want to face or even do, but deep down you know it’s definitely in your best interests. Even though you know there is nothing more important than your health, it doesn’t make facing this decision any easier. Maybe you can relate?

If you are finding everything is a struggle, if your symptoms are out of control or if you are not progressing in the way you want to– know that things can change. You might not be able to see it and you might be putting a massive block up against it, but realise that you have the power to change your life. We all do.

It means letting go of a lot of ideals and pushing past fear. It means creating a deeper connection with yourself and asking yourself what you want; are you truly happy, or are you just holding onto what’s comfortable for fear of the unknown?

What if you could create a life for yourself where you find a new purpose– a new passion– yet not experience the constant pain and fatigue? If you open your mind to new possibilities, allow yourself to be vulnerable and take the time you need to figure it all out… well, everything will turn okay in the end. I truly believe that. Life has a funny way of working out sometimes and just know that it will get better.

Getting there and reaching that point, though, means taking that first brave step. Always remember that you’ve got this. Keep that in the front of your mind and see where the adventure takes you.

  1. Hi Donna, hope everything is okay! I totally agree with this post, even though when the mist is surrounds making it difficult to see beyond, we do get through things. Survival of the fittest. When I look back through my life & the tough times I’ve been through…I see how my body got this way but, I’m still here and still pushing. Happiness comes and goes but we just have to raise the posts and strive to win

    1. Thank you Heidi. Everything will be fine. Like you say, you get through it. It’s just the process that’s hard but you get there πŸ™‚

  2. I am dealing with this right now and trying to make some big choices about what treatment path to take next. Thank you <3

    1. Good luck Genevieve, I always think in these situations the best thing to listen to is your intuition.

  3. That first step is always the hardest. Autumn is my favorite season and is the time of year when I tend to reflect on where I have been and decide what changes I want or need to make.

    1. That’s it. Once you take that first step, you can work through it. I think that’s a good thing to do and I’m the same πŸ™‚

  4. Thank you for this encouragement. Very needed this morning. <3

    1. Sorry you are having a rough morning. I’m glad this post has helped to give you encouragement. Take care x

  5. Donna,
I don’t have Fibromyalgia but I have Ulcerative Colitis. Your blog posts speak to me as a chronic illness sufferer. This particular post spoke volumes! I just decided to end my 22 year teaching career after an extremely tough UC year.
It took courage and finding a strength I never thought I had.
Thank you!! Please continue to share your thoughts & experiences. It is valuable.????

    1. Hi Sara, I’m sorry to hear you have Ulcerative Colitis. Making the decision to give up your career is a difficult decision but hopefully one that will lead to better health for you. I empathise with your situation as I too had to give up my dream job. I have no plans to stop blogging any time soon πŸ™‚ I’m happy to hear you find my blog helpful.
