The Nimble is the world’s first one-finger opener. It slips over your finger and can be used to open all kinds of parcels and packaging. You can use the Nimble on either hand, it’s one-size-fits all– with the sleeve expanding to fit your finger– and it grips your finger comfortably so that it doesn’t slip off during use. The Nimble has the tiniest little blade, which I was actually amazed by. It’s made out of ultra-hard zirconia ceramic, meaning it is super tough and won’t rust, but the best thing about it is that it can’t cut you! You can run it safely over your skin and it won’t hurt you at all. Genius!
The Nimble is a bright yellow colour meaning that it is easy to spot when stored away in a drawer. I think this is a great decision as it makes the Nimble easier to spot for anyone who has a visual impairment. It is a small device though, so my advice would be to assign a designated place to keep it or else it could be easily misplaced.
The Nimble has been designed by Version 22 , a multi-award winning creative studio who looks to solve everyday problems in ways which make people smile. They have worked on many prototypes of the Nimble– testing it on over 150 people (including young, old and disabled people)– and, following a smaller production run, are now ready to launch the Nimble via a Kickstarter campaign. The Kickstarter campaign will allow Version 22 to produce the Nimble on a large scale.

I have been using the Nimble over the past couple of weeks and have been driving my husband mad by insisting on using it to open literally everything! It’s such a great little gadget. I have used the Nimble to open popcorn packets, envelopes, parcels, lip balm packaging and toothbrush packaging. It took me a couple of goes with it to get the knack of it but once I had it sussed there was no stopping me. It will come in particularly handy for those kinds of plastic packaging that are a nightmare to open. You know the ones I mean. We once bought scissors that needed scissors to get into the packaging! What is the point in that?!
It is definitely a handy gadget to have around the house and I am happy knowing that I no longer have to struggle or risk injury each time I open a parcel. If you would like to pre-order a Nimble it is only available on Kickstarter so make sure to back the Kickstarter campaign. If you are quick you will be able to take advantage of the ‘early bird deals’, which give you a great discount on the RRP. Hurry though as there are only 50 available at the cheapest price!
If you are new to the idea of Kickstarter it is a platform that helps artists, musicians, filmmakers, designers, and other creators find the resources and support they need to make their ideas a reality. Backers pledge an amount in return for the product (as listed on the Kickstarter itself) and you are only charged if the funding goal is reached. If the campaign is successful, the product is manufactured (which can take a little time) and you will receive the product. I have used it myself in the past and there are often great projects on there.

What a nifty little gadget! My husband opens packages for us because holding the knife causes pain in my wrists. This is a must have for those with arthritis in the hands or achy hands.
This would be a great product to share at Chronic Friday Linkup at http://www.beingfibromom.com
Yes it’s a great, safe gadget for anyone who struggles with their hands/wrists. It’s a million times better than trying to open things with a knife. Thanks!
